Biography

About Me
I just got married last year to my husband, Chris, and we bought our first house here on the south side in May! I have an almost-three-year-old stepson, as well as two dogs and two cats.  Needless to say, my house is pretty crazy most of the time!  When I do have time to relax, I like to watch movies with my husband, clean my house, or settle down with a good book!

Education
I attended both Abraham Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs and Lincoln High School here in Des Moines, then went on to get a BA in Elementary Education from the University of Iowa.  I have endorsements in reading and language arts, and hope to one day get my master's (though I don't know what in yet!)!

Teaching Experience
I did my student teaching right here in Des Moines-at Studebaker Elementary in a first grade classroom, then I subbed for a year and a half before coming to Weeks last year as a 6th grade literacy teacher.  This year I have the privilege of working with all three grades as one of the reading intervention teachers, and I know we're going to have an awesome year!

E: kelli.tooloswald@dmschools.org

Biography

I teach Literacy and have been a teacher at Weeks for eight years.  I love helping students discover a love for books and learning and am always looking for strategies to help my students increase their reading level and become better writers.

I have two small sons that I love to chase around (because they have more energy than even the students!). And my husband and I enjoy traveling and being outdoors either camping, listening to a concern, hiking, or watching our sons and boxer dog wrestle around.  When I have my own time, I like to read (of course), make jewelry, cook (and eat!), watch movies, and talk to other grown ups.
