The atmosphere after school on Thursday at Weeks Middle School was absolutely scientific! More than 500 projects were on display in the school gym and cafeteria for the annual science fair. So jammed were the display spaces that the judges were jostling their way from project to project like rush-hour commuters on a crowded subway. Weeks Band honored our service men and women by performing patriotic music at the SE 14th HY-Vee during the Veterans Day Breakfast. Afterwards our students ate breakfast and mingled with Des Moines veterans and families. Check out our Flickr page for more pictures of the event.

National Junior Honor Society is has begun its annual charity fundraiser. Weeks students will be raising money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society with a penny drive. Students and staff will be collecting money, from pennies to dollars, in a friendly competition between Advisories. Please support the efforts of our NJHS and give what you can to this worthy cause!
Students who attend a Title I school in Des Moines may be eligible for tutoring services at no cost to their family. Weeks Middle School students looked into their futures this week during the annual Career Day and College Fair. Students listened to presentations from businesses ranging from from La’ James International to the Animal Rescue League. They were also able to talk to representatives from visiting colleges. Hundreds of middle school students gathered at Williams Stadium on Monday evening for the annual DMPS All-City Middle School Track & Field Meet.
