Check out your student’s school supply list under the Parents tab. Right now is the time to stock up on those supplies necessary for your student’s success. Don’t forget to stock up on extra pencils and paper when supplies run low during 2nd semester.
Iowa law now requires that all students entering 7th grade receive a one-time booster of the Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis) vaccine. Weeks is hosting an exciting 2-week summer program, “Minorities on the Move: A Look into Social Roles, Interpretations and Expectations.” The goal of this class is to reach out to minority students, opening their eyes to the prison epidemic, taking them on a literal ride through Iowa’s history using the viewpoints of African Americans and Latinos.

Students in Mrs. Hoyt’s classroom organized and developed a summer reading book fair for 6th grade students. Each student created a detailed project highlighting the elements of fiction through the novel of their choosing. Weeks’ Gifted and Talented students organized a school-wide canned food drive for the Food Bank of Iowa. With the donated goods the students constructed a display to bring attention to the issue of hunger.
